A new world-first study has revealed about 700,000 Australians live in areas with absolutely no access to childcare services.

Victoria University’s Mitchell Institute conducted the study which found those living in advantaged Australian city areas had more access to childcare services and there was more availability at places where fees were high.

“You’re going to be more likely to find childcare if you’re living in a more advantaged area,” Mitchell Institute director and associate professor Peter Hurley told 6PR Afternoons host Julie-Anne Sprague.
