Does swearing make you feel good?  A psychology review of one-hundred studies on the consequences of swearing have found it to be a powerful tool. 

From helping tolerate pain, easing stress, building connection and even being persuasive, the research suggests swearing can be good for you.

Chief editor of the Australian National Dictionary Centre, and author of Rooted, and Australian history of Bad Language Amanda Laugesen told Oly Peterson on Perth Live its fascinating that works done around the brain-science says it does have these positive affects.

“I think Australian’s are pretty well-known for their ability to swear…and to swear in all sorts of contexts,” Ms Laugesen says.

“We do have a pretty relaxed attitude towards language.”
