Neville Power and son handed eight-month suspended sentence after COVID breach

Millionaire business man Neville Power has recieved an eight-month suspended sentence after breaching WA’s COVID-19 law in October last year.
Mr Power and his son Nick returned from a trip to Queensland in a private helicopter, without adhering to the state’s rules.
The pair accepted Police allegations they both disregarded the laws by flying into the state without completing mandatory G2G forms and failing to quarantine for the required 14 days.
6PR and 9News reporter, Tara Meakins says the judge was very clear on the “disregard” the father and son had for WA’s COVID restrictions.
“The pair headed over to Queensland, then came back in their private helicopter. They stopped at Exmouth to refuel and spent a night in a resort there, they came down to Perth and Neville attended the Telethon Ball,” she said. “They knew what they were doing, yet they flouted the rules anyway.”
As well as being a former executive officer of Fortescue Metals Group, Mr Power was chosen by Prime Minister Scott Morrison as the head of the COVID-19 coordination commission.
