Mum of ill boy wants meeting with Health Minister over hospital parking

A Perth mum has asked for a meeting with Health Minister John Day, to question why parents of ill children have to pay for parking at Princess Margaret Hospital.

Monique Garcia rushed her chronically ill son Nathan to PMH on Wednesday, and after waiting 20 minutes for a parking bay, raced him into the emergency department without buying a ticket.

On her return to the vehicle, Monique found a parking ticket had been issued for $200, which would increase to $1000 if it wasn’t paid within 28 days.

Health Minister John Day told Millsy and Karl on 6PR Breakfast that the fine would be waived, and the fines policy reviewed.

But Monique has called for a one on one meeting with the Health Minister to query why the parents of ill children have to pay for parking in the first place.
