Ratepayers urge South West council to ignore mandates

The City of Busselton says more than 100 ratepayers have requested a special electors meeting to discuss concerns about vaccine mandates within the community.
Mayor Grant Henley told Oliver Peterson on Perth Live they received a request to hold a special electors’ meeting a couple of weeks ago.
“There were the minimum 100 that were require to hold the meeting, and so that’s all we need to know,” he said.
He believes sectors of the community are urging the City to declare Busselton a ‘pro-choice’ community, but it is not within its power.
“Generally, it’s around expressing the concerns of the mandate on businesses, on community members, and also calling on the City of Busselton to declare itself a mandate free area and get rid of mandates in the local government area and that is something that is not within our powers to do,” Mr Henley said.
The special electors meeting will be held on February 21.
