Lyon: We were negligent

Fremantle Dockers coach Ross Lyon has labelled his club’s pre-season as ‘negligent’ but vowed to learn from it.
After they claimed last year’s minor Premiership and made a preliminary final, Fremantle are currently in 16th on the AFL ladder with only three wins.
When Brad Hardie asked Lyon on Sports Today whether them team was fit enough he said they shifted to more of a football program over the last summer.
‘The data tells us we lost a percentage of gut-run, that turned out to be significant, that we would normally get.
‘We were probably negligent to let it happen. It’s never happened before. It won’t happen again, but it’s been a learning.
‘How much influence? We don’t know. We can’t prove it, but we know what was missing to other years when we seemed to have cover the ground better.’
