King Edward Hospital “doing all they can” to upgrade “deficient” fire safety
The North Metropolitan Health Service has defended their work in ensuring King Edward Memorial Hospital will have adequate fire protection, despite an audit into the hospital describing safety measures as “inadequate”.
It was reported today that the 2021 audit found sprinklers and water pressure did not meet required standards, specifically within the maternity ward.
North Metropolitan Health Service CEO Doctor Shirley Brown told Millsy and Karl on 6PR Breakfast they had been working to upgrade the safety systems in the century-old facility.
“I’m going to guarantee you that we have done everything we can – and we are progressively doing it – to make sure the fire safety systems there are as good as they can be,” Dr Brown said.
