A 99-year-old war veteran will be able to attend what could be his final Anzac Day Dawn Service at Kings Park despite a 500-person cap.

This year’s Dawn Service will be an invitation-only event after planning began under the state’s level two health restrictions.

Caller Jo yesterday told 6PR it was a disgrace World War II veteran Charlie had not been invited to the Kings Park service.

“I don’t want to take anybody else’s place,” Charlie told Steve Mills this morning.

“If there’s somebody more important than me who would really like to go to the Dawn Service, then please let them be.

“But if it’s possible, it might be the last Dawn Service I go to.”

After hearing Charlie’s case, RSL WA President Duncan Anderson said there would most definitely be an invitation with his name.
