In 1976, James Taylor had his first number one single. Thirty-nine years later, he now has a number-one album.

Coming to Perth in April and at the same time celebrating an incredible 40 years of performing, Taylor talked to Gary Adshead about his career and the longevity indelibly tied to it.

“I was living very much in the moment as far into the future as my next gig,” he said.

“It’s amazing to look back on it and see what a passage it’s been, but it’s true; I just had no concept of there being any future to it.”
