Fans of Coldplay who are travelling to Perth to see them over the weekend are facing price-gouging by hotels taking advantage of the two-day concert.

One caller, Colin, says he won the tickets earlier in the week to go see the band but every hotel he’s looked at are charging prices higher than normal.

“We’ve got rewards cards and all, you name it, we’ve got and absolutely nothing,” he told Gary Adshead.

Chief executive officer of the Western Australian Tourism Council, Evan Hall, says fans need to keep in mind the scale of the event.

“All up, we should get close to a 110,000 people over the two nights, so a lot of demand as you can imagine, for rooms,” he said.

He also says most of the city’s hotels were booked out when the concerts were announced.
