Hoon car burst in to flames

Spearwood Vehicle Impoundment
About 12:40am this morning (13/03/2014) a number of calls were made to Police regarding a vehicle hooning in the Spearwood area, including information that the vehicle had caught fire.
Officers from the Traffic Enforcement Group attended near the corner of Edeline Street and Doolette Street, where they located a vehicle on fire. The Department of Fire and Emergency Services attended the scene and extinguished the fire.
The driver of the vehicle became aggressive towards Police and he was arrested at the scene and taken to the Perth Watch House for further processing.
In addition to burnout marks on the road, gouge marks were identified where the rubber tyres had shredded off the metal rims. It is believed sparks from the rims touching the road ignited the fire.
A 26 year old man from Spearwood has been charged with Reckless Driving (Inherently Dangerous) and Refuse a Preliminary Breath Test. He is due to appear in the Fremantle Magistrates Court on 1 April 2014.
Due to the damage caused to the vehicle it was not seized, and a surrender notice will be issued to the driver.
