Hire says Knight fine for Hawks clash

The injury-ridden Perth Wildcats could have their big-man stocks back intact with Matt Knight’s shoulder injury not enough to keep him off the court.

Although the Perth Wildcats still don’t have the help of their captain and top-class point guard, Damian Martin, it looks like the shoulder injury that Knight copped in last weekend’s loss against the Sydney Kings has improved enough for the forward to suit up for the ‘Cats against the Illawarra Hawks at Perth Arena on Sunday.

Greg Hire told Peter Vlahos on 6PR’s Bouncing Around program: ‘I’d rather the big fella actually just get out of the way so we can protect him in the future, but Matty will be fine. He trained yesterday and he got a few hits to that shoulder to challenge it there and I think it’s more of a mental thing more so than anything now, but he’ll be fine for tomorrow.’
