A German electronics giant has won the $64 million, five year installation and maintenance contract to provide WA with more fixed speed and red light speed cameras.

Jenoptik has been tasked with the addition of 25 fixed speed cameras, 60 red light speed cameras and the October trial of point to point speed cameras on the Forrest Highway south of Perth.

Road Safety Commissioner Kim Papalia said eleven people have died on the 29.9 kilometre stretch of road pinpointed for the point to point cameras, between Preston Beach and Binningup.

Mr Papalia spoke to Gary Adshead on the 6PR Morning Program.
