If you are not a liberal when you are young, you have no heart; and if you are not a conservative when old, you have no brain, as the saying goes.

But new research shows Millennials and Gen Z are avoiding the slide to more conservative ideals.

Centre for Independent Studies Intergenerational Program director Matthew Taylor told Simon Beaumont onĀ 6PR Mornings younger people are now carving out their own political paradigm.

“It’s hard to know exactly what the future holds… but one thing we know about Millennials is that we have significantly lower rates of home ownership, which is probably a particularly strong driver,” Mr Taylor said.
