Melbourne’s Tom McDonald stole a three-point win from the West Coast Eagles in the final moments with his fifth goal at Domain Stadium on Saturday night.

The Eagles had almost sealed the deal with a 16-point lead half way through the final term, but the Demons kept pushing and with only 24 seconds left, McDonald managed to kick a goal against all odds to get the win, 14.12 (96) toΒ 15.9 (99).

Jack Viney also starred for the Demons with his 38 disposals and while Mark LeCras (hip) joined Josh Kennedy on the sidelines this week, Drew Petrie stepped up for the Eagles with four goals.

“They played well, we played well, it was a high pressure game. Both teams, unrelenting.” Mark Hutchings spoke with us after the Eagles loss.

“I know we play well at home, but how we went about it tonight I was happy with and obviously disappointed and slightly devastated with how the result went.”
