Cats are killing up to 340 million native animals a year, and there are now calls for cat owners to keep their pets indoors at all times.

Ecologist at the Biodiversity Council, professor Sarah Legge told Gary Adshead it’s a huge problem.

“Feral cats are one of the worst threats to biodiversity we have in this country,” she said on 6PR Mornings.

“We really need better management of cats right across the country.

“So better management of feral cats out in the bush, and also management of pet cats in and around town.”
