The efficacy of the Australian Government’s submarine deal has been questioned as the vessels may be technologically outpaced by the time they’re delivered.

Emeritus Professor of Complex Systems Science at ANU’s Crawford School Roger Bradbury told Gary Adshead on 6PR Mornings the submarines may be vulnerable to future developments in defense.

“[They] are going to be vulnerable to detection in ways that aren’t possible today just because technology marches on,” he said.

Former Prime Minister Paul Keating rubbished the AUKUS agreement, saying Australia is too reliant on the UK and US for defense cooperation.

“They’re looking around for suckers,” Mr Keating said.
