The Hussey brothers, Mike and David, faced the media at the MCG ahead of Sunday night’s Big Bash League Grand Final where they will lead their respective sides the Melbourne Stars (David) and Sydney Thunder (Mike).

The BBL05 decider at the MCG will the final match of Mike Hussey’s illustrious career – and it’s fitting he’ll come up against his younger brother.

Mike Hussey has previously announced he’s retiring at the conclusion of the Big Bash League and will turn his attention to coaching.

But neither brother said their family ties will not be front of mind when the action gets underway.

Both the Stars and Thunder are chasing their first BBL title.

The Thunder has regained star all-rounder Jacques Kallis after missing the past two matches because of a groin injury while Jake Doran replaces Andrew McDonald in their squad.

Mike Hussey expects Kallis to play, revealing the South African was close to lining up in the Thunder’s semi-final victory over the Adelaide Strikers on Thursday night.

The Stars have named an unchanged 13-man squad.

The Thunder beat the Stars in their previous BBL05 meeting in a one-run thriller – at the MCG – just before Christmas thanks to an unbeaten century by Usman Khawaja.

The two Sydney sides, the Sixers and Thunder, will contest the Women’s Big Bash League Final from 1.40pm.
