Eagles out to control the controllables

The West Coast Eagles are out to control the controllables as they aim to manage expectation, according to captain Shannon Hurn.

The Eagles were the surprise packet on 2015 when they made the AFL Grand Final in their second season under Adam Simpson and first under Hurn’s captaincy.

Speaking on 882 6PR, Hurn said they have tried to keep things the same as last year.

‘That’ll be one of the things that we have to deal with this year, those expectations,’ he said.

‘You can basically do that by training well, preparing well and making sure you’re just doing the basics well and that’s something we’ve touched on since we came back to the pre-season.

‘If you expect too many things or look too far ahead it can catch you out.

‘We’ve just been focussing on the NAB Challenge and make sure we’re ready for round one.’
