Eagles chairman backs in Nisbett and Simpson

West Coast Eagles Chairman Paul Fitzpatrick has backed current CEO Trevor Nisbett and head coach Adam Simpson to lead the club into the future as it continues to rebuild from its worst season on record.
Fitzpatrick took charge of WA’s biggest sporting club in November last year, after a long and largely successful tenure under outgoing Chairman Russell Gibbs.
Talking to 6PR Football’s Adam Papalia and Will Schofield before the Eagles’ 19-point win over the Giants at Optus Stadium in round 2, Fitzpatrick told listeners the club is lucky to have someone of Nisbett’s calibre at the helm during what is a difficult time on-field.
“It’s very good to have someone who’s regarded as one of the best, if not the best, CEO in the competition leading the club,” Fitzpatrick said.
Fitzpatrick’s praise for Simpson was just as high, despite the team winning just two games last year in a season the chairman says was plagued by an “injury and health crisis” that no club has faced before.
“He’s clearly a very good coach… I think he will be the person who’ll lead us through this transition, and he’ll do a very good job of it.”
