Crowded House’s decision to back out of the Grand Final pregame show has renewed the discussion around which musical act best fits the lauded slot.

The Australian-by-way-of-New Zealand band were tentatively locked in for the Final but pulled out last week, leaving the AFL only around two months to find a replacement.

Entertainment reporter Peter Ford told Karl and Mick on 6PR Breakfast the decision was “pretty amateurish” on behalf of the band, unless there’s a strong reason.

“It’d be very odd to think they just couldn’t be stuffed doing it,” Mr Ford said.
