Covid-19 isolation rules to change in WA

The State Government has announced new Covid-19 guidelines for when WA reaches a high Covid-19 caseload, but is yet to clarify what that threshold will be.

Once the state reaches the high caseload level, close contacts will be redefined as a household member, intimate partner, or a close personal interaction where masks were not worn.

Quarantine requirements would be reduced from 14 days to seven days, so long as the close contact returned a negative Rapid Antigen or PCR Test.

Casual contacts will no longer be required to isolate.

6PR and Nine News reporter Gary Adshead spoke with Oliver Peterson on Perth LIVE following the announcement, which also included changes for how schools will respond.

See below for the government’s graphic for definitions for close contacts and the rules for isolation, for when WA reaches a high caseload environment.
