Class to grass for Dockers

Fremantle coach Ross Lyon has backed in his ability to develop a young list as part of the club’s rebuild.

As last year’s minor Premiers, Fremantle have started 2016 with ten consecutive losses, and some media pundits have questioned whether Lyon is the right man to develop the kids.

Lyon said on 6PR’s Sports Today he was equipped and committed to working through the challenges and developing his own skills set.

‘At the end of the day, you coach to win … People throw bombs in and you’re this and you’re that and you can’t do this,’ Lyon said.

‘Coaching is teaching, so I think why I have been a good coach, in my coaching panels I’ve had really loyal and committed player groups, but our ability to teach, my coaching panels and football program has been really strong.

‘If developing a list is about teaching, I think I’ve been able to teach and implement game styles and training and transfer it from the class to the grass really well.’
