Can an intense fright give you a heart attack?

The answer is no, a bad fright cannot trigger a heart attack, however, it can cause a synthetic heart attack which is called Takotsubo’s cardiomyopathy.

Perth cardiovascular institute specialist Dr Matthew Best explained the heart condition to 6PR Mornings host Liam Bartlett.

“It triggers this adrenaline cascade and you mimic a heart attack… you get all the symptoms,” said Dr Best.
