Boned: John Quigley shows mental health dog Hillman the door
The Guide Dogs of WA-trained canine the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions intended to hire for three years at $1000 a week to help boost staff morale and mental health has been boned, after just 12 months.
6PR Mornings host Liam Bartlett, who broke the story last year after an interview with attorney-general John Quigley, said the reasons for Hillman’s departure to an as-yet-determined home were unknown.
“Hillman has only lasted a year… Hillman is okay, he’s still around, but the DPP has decided that that’s it,” Bartlett said on Thursday after replaying an interview with Quigley last year.
“Clearly the amount of emotional support that Hillman was providing was either not enough or they’ve deemed it too expensive, for some reason.”
The beautiful black Labrador (above) originally had a three-year deal with the ODPP worth $162,000, but the final bill for services rendered was now $54,945.02 to West Australian taxpayers.
