Alex was a Rance to go Freo
Alex Rance has conceded Fremantle were one of the clubs he was looking at while he weighed up his future before signing on with Richmond.
Media reports were abuzz suggesting the son of former Eagle Murray Rance could be lured home to to play for the Dockers.
Rance said when it came to the crunch he and his wife were settled in Melbourne.
‘They were probably one of the clubs I was contemplating about going to,’ Rance said.
‘Fremantle probably looked the more likely option because we’d have some family back there.’
Richmond sit fifth on the AFL ladder and have won their last four matches and Rance lauded a ‘less-rigid’ game plan for their recent form.
‘I don’t think we’ve really changed our game plan at all,’ he said.
‘It’s just been that Dimmer (Damien Hardwick) has given us more empowerment within the confines of the game plan.’
‘I think you’ll find the best sides don’t have hard-and-fast rules any more.’
Richmond play Fremantle on Saturday.
