Albo wants more WA influence, as Barnaby faces leadership fight

Anthony Albanese has hinted at more representation for Western Australia in the Parliament, as Labor works towards a majority government.
6PR Breakfast host Gareth Parker said the future make-up of the ministry should include at least two WA ministers on his front bench, after Labor’s stunning election victory on the back of strong swings in the west.
“Four doesn’t go into one, so we will see how Albo carves up the spoils,” Parker said on 6PR Breakfast on Friday.

Albanese gave his first live radio interview since becoming PM on Thursday to Perth Live host Oliver Peterson, where he alluded to WA’s increased presence at the table.
“I want to see increased representation across the government from WA,” he said.
“We’ll work through those processes, we’ve always had quality from WA, now we’ve got quantity as well.”
Parker also said the writing was on the wall for Nationals leader Barnaby Joyce, as he fights to continue leading the party on two fronts.
“He really deserves a spell in the hall of mirrors,” Parker said.
