The WA Government is in the midst of analyzing potential caps on short-stay rentals similar to Victoria in an effort to take some pressure off overstretched housing supply rotation.

Yet the major player in short-term rental platforms Airbnb argues a more detailed and expansive approach is required outside of specific caps.

“About 82 per cent of our hosts list just one property,” Airbnb Australia Head of Public Policy Michael Crosby told Julia-anne Sprague on 6PR Afternoons.

So what I think we’re concerned ultimately that a cap would have a detrimental impact on the local economy.”
