If you were living in the Fremantle area during the early 80’s, you might remember a group of people wandering the streets dressed in Orange.

Called the Sannyasins, the group were known locally as the ‘Orange People’ and were followers of a movement started by Indian guru Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh.

As part of the 2020 Revelation International Film Festival, a documentary called The Beloved is detailing the story of the Sannyasin movement in Fremantle in the 1980’s.

Fremantle Filmmaker and project creator Joseph London joined The Weekend in Studio to talk about the project, along with WA Author Bruce Menzies – both sharing their experiences with the controversial movement.
