A man has been arrested after being accused of punching a police dog and his handler in Beaconsfield.

Police searching for the man in regard to an outstanding warrant found him in a unit early this morning. 

He allegedly punched police dog Jose several times after being cornered by the animal.

The 32 year old is also accused of punching the policeman a number of times.
