The City of Perth has released the Shaping Perth City Centre – Towards 2036 and Beyond report, which outlines plans to replace roads with pedestrianised spaces and introduce light rail.

City of Perth Lord Mayor Bruce Reynolds told 6PR Weekends host Chrissy Morrissy that Perth is shifting away from being centred on shopping and working.

“We’ve changed over the past 100 years or so, if you can imagine 100 years ago we were a destination for shopping and for working. And now that’s changed and the demographic has changed, it’s going to become a much more liveable city, a greener city and more connected city,” he said.
