The “Hospital to Home” program, a critical service for mental health patients, faces closure within weeks after failing to secure funding in the Western Australian state budget.

Press PLAY to hear Samantha Scott discuss the impact of the program’s closure

The program, run by Mental Illness Fellowship of Western Australia (MIFWA), remains caught in a bureaucratic handover between the federal and state governments, forcing it to fight to secure the $750,000 needed to continue.

MIFWA peer programs manager Samantha Scott told 6PR Weekends host Chrissy Morrissy the impact on patients was devastating.

“It’s an awful situation to be in. Quite devastating for everyone. Just understanding the full impact of those people leaving hospital and needing that really vital support”, she said.
