9 News Perth reporter told Paul Wild the truth surrounding mum’s death

A heartbroken son is demanding change, after his elderly mother died while waiting hours for an ambulance.
Grandmother Georgina Wild, 80, was forced to wait 2.5 hours while experiencing chest pains at her Ashby home on Sunday night, the second such incident in weeks after 18 months of warnings to our health leaders about the dangers of increased ambulance ramping.
Ms Wild’s son Paul told Gareth Parker on 6PR Breakfast on Wednesday how the tragic incident unfolded and what authorities told him about his mum’s death, before he discovered the real truth from 9 News Perth reporter Jerri Demasi.
“We were just gobsmacked mate, we couldn’t believe it had happened,” he told Parker after Demasi informed him of the wait his mother was forced to endure.
“It shouldn’t happen again, it shouldn’t have happened once and it shouldn’t happen again”.

Parker earlier played back a raft of interviews from January 2021 with health leaders and Premier Mark McGowan that illustrate the shifting explanations and excuses for ramping in the previous 18 months.
St John Ambulance CEO Michelle Fyfe and Health Minister Amber-Jade Sanderson are now under pressure to resign after the death of Ms Wild.
