The Fremantle youngsters were a shining light in an otherwise dim 61-point loss to Collingwood at the MCG on Sunday.

Teenager, Stefan Giro put pressure on the opposition and kicked a goal alongside fellow first-timer Scott Johns, while 19-year-old Brennan Cox also hit the scoreboard, but it wasn’t enough to challenge the Magpies who won, to 21.12 (138) to 12.5 (77).

Collingwood’s Brody Mihocek kicked three goals in his debut game and Tom Philips clocked up 35 disposals.

Alex Pearce came off the ground with an ankle injury in the third quarter and was not able to return.

Hear how the game played out.

“As players we just get our messages and to me that was crack in and chase and tackle and I think I did that and everyone’s got their own role,” Andrew Brayshaw told 6PR after the game.

“I just spoke with Bailey Banfield who said (Steele) Sidebottom and (Scott)Pendlebury just react so quick, it’s just one step and they’re away,”Fremantle coach Ross Lyon said after the game.
