Women’s wellness centre falls victim to NIMBY panic

Shalom House has had another setback in its battle to set up a women’s wellness centre in Craigie with the City of Joondalup refusing its application for an Occupancy Permit.
It’s the latest in a list of obstacles faced by Shalom House over developing drug rehab and support clinics, many being opposed by residents who did not wish for the centre to be built near a primary school and childcare centre.
The lawyer representing Shalom House, Belinda Moharich, told Gary Adshead on 6pr Mornings they were advised by both the City of Joondalup and the WA Planning Commission the development would be allowed as a community purpose building.
“No approval is required, so it is somewhat disingenuous to say the City is not satisfied that approval requirements have not been met,” Ms Moharich said.
