Why Facebook is changing its name

Social media giant Facebook has changed its corporate name to Meta as part of a major rebrand.
CEO Mark Zuckerberg said the change will be built around a “metaverse” as it expands into virtual reality.
“It’s this love virtual that he’s trying to find new ways for us to connect,” tech expert Trevor Long told Mark Gibson on 6PR Breakfast.
“The last 18 months has shown us that if we can’t be together, then we do rely on technology.
“And his vision … is that we will use things like virtual reality headsets and video, and he wants to bring that into a way that makes it more normal, yet it’s still completely virtual.”
