The state’s environmental watchdog is calling on the public to help save the Gnangara Mound in Perth’s north.

There are fears removing the pine trees will lead to the starvation of the endangered black cockatoo species.

Curtin University law lecturer and biologist Dr Hugh Finn told 6PR Afternoons host Jo McManus the pine trees are essential to WA wildlife.

“There’s been no consideration of the impact of removing the pine on the cockatoos.”
