‘Unprofessional and embarrassing’: South West local reacts to proposed offshore wind farm

Resident’s in WA’s South West are growing concerned about the federal government’s proposal to construct an offshore wind farm along the coastline.

South West resident Andrew Wynne told Jamie Burnett on Perth Live, “The consultation down here has been deplorable. We’ve had one public meeting, it wasn’t a proper consultation and there were no public questions. It was unprofessional and embarrassing and that got me revved up.”

“I was absolutely horrified that the process was commenced several years ago, the consultation is going on for another seven years and we are talking about putting one of the largest windfarms in Australia on a pristine coastline which is going to threaten marine life, tourism, and there’s no doubt there will be problems.”

“I think with this pristine environment, we cannot risk any opportunity of jeopardising the jewel in the crown in tourism down here, without it having long-term repercussions to the environment,” Mr Wynne said.
