Three youths charged in alleged Clarkson assault after review

Three youths have had their cautions thrown out and instead been charged over an alleged assault of a couple in Clarkson in July.
Victims Craig and Shelly were on their way home from a pub on Saturday July 24 when they were beaten unconscious by a group of teens.
Shelly had to be revived at the scene.
The couple said they felt let down by the police response, which prompted an apology from the Acting Police Commissioner Col Blanch.
Now, the Acting Commissioner said “proper charges” have been laid.
“Two aged sixteen and one aged seventeen with the proper charge, which is now assault occasioning bodily harm,” he told Gareth Parker on 6PR Breakfast.
“So those matters are before the court, that diversion was revoked, and they have now been charged.”
