Telstra back Elon Musk’s ‘game changing’ satellite system for regions

Telstra has signed on to Elon Musk’s low-Earth satellite constellation  Starlink in an effort to provide better, gap-free phone and internet services to regional and rural areas.

Australians have had access to the Starlink technology since 2021, but Telstra will now fully develop it into a national network.

Telstra Regional CEO Loretta Willaton told Jo McManus on 6PR Afternoons the satellites will provide a big increase in latency.

“These low-Earth orbit satellites have a lot more ability to provide faster connections,” Ms Willaton said.
