A Melbourne man caught a rare, flesh-eating disease, but the VFL footballer has survived the superbug. 

Sam O’Sullivan had flu symptoms for a week before he felt a pain in his shin that was so bad he was taken to the hospital. 

Mr O’Sullivan was put into an induced coma and his family was told he may not survive, but the 24-year-old pulled through and told his story to Peter Bell on 6PR’s Afternoons.
