A study by the British Journal of Ophthalmology has revealed one in three children and teenagers worldwide are shortsighted. It also predicts more than 740 million myopia cases worldwide by 2050.

Sophie Koh, National Optometrist Advisor at Optometry Australia, spoke to 6PR Afternoons host Chrissy Morrissey on the concerning figures.

“Kids are spending more time on screens than outdoors, leading to the eyeballs changing in a different way, making kids more shortsighted than they have ever been,” she said.
