What started as April Fool’s gag this morning with Steve and Basil, took a twist this afternoon when maverick potato grower Tony Galati admitted he harboured political aspirations. 

The man behind the spud-shed empire was put up to an April Fool’s prank by the Breakfast show, telling Steve and Baz this morning, that he would run as an independent in the newly created seat of Baldivis. 

This afternoon on Drive Tony Galati told Adam Shand he’d had such a positive response from the interview and given his close association with the area, he’d made the decision to become a candidate.
