Daryl Somers has filed a lawsuit against Channel 7 for what has been deemed unlawful usage of  footage.

The former Hey Hey It’s Saturday host has launched legal action against the network after airing a snippet of John Farnham and Tom Jones on the program, with Somers and his company Somers Enterprises Australia (SEA) claiming it was used without permission.

Entertainment reporter Peter Ford told Millsy and Karl on 6PR Breakfast it will be an interesting test case for copyright law in Australia, especially when it comes to the usage of television footage.

“He’s going after them, even though in news and current affairs you’re allowed to access that sort of information,” Mr Ford said.
