Simpson applies the heat

Adam Simpson has applied the blowtorch to some of West Coast’s second-tier players.

The Eagles claimed Western Derby 44 on Sunday by 47 points after a disappointing 19-point defeat to Collingwood at the MCG.

Dom Sheed only had 12 possessions, Elliot Yeo 14, with the returning Nic Naitanui only seven but 26 hit outs.

Chris Masten recorded an equal team-high 33 touches, but it didn’t save him from the coaches reference in players he would like to have more impact.

‘I’m more worried – not worried – but I’d rather see the Yeo, Masten, Sheed and those types bob-up the game by the scruff of the neck which I know they can,’ Simpson said.

‘We’re really happy with our leaders and our top-end players and they’ve been carrying the load all year.’
