Simmo lets slip with Petrie news

West Coast Eagles coach Adam Simpson let slip that former North Melbourne player, turned Eagle, Drew Petrie will be retiring at the end of the season at yesterday’s post game presentation.

6PR’s Karl Langdon was MCing the presentation after the Eagles 29-point win over Adelaide when Simpson was addressing the crowd he said: “You know, we got Sam [Mitchell], Matty [Priddis] and Drew [Petrie] retiring… end of the season.”
Langdon called up Petrie to the microphone and said he had to double check what he heard, Petrie replied: “I’m too old. I was probably going to announce it during the week. I didn’t want to rain of Pridda’s parade or Mitch.”
