Columbian musical superstar Shakira has avoided going to jail for tax fraud, and it only cost her around $18 million.

The Hips Don’t Lie singer cut a deal with Spanish tax authorities regarding the 14.5 million Euros – around $24.8 million – of tax she is accused of not paying.

Entertainment reporter Peter Ford told Millsy and Karl on 6PR Breakfast it’s the culmination of a drawn-out court case.

“She really needs to get some new accountants on board, I think,” Mr Ford said.
