SDA slams pay discrepancies: ‘It’s age discrimination, pure and simple’

The Shop, Distributive and Allied Employees’ Association is pushing for employees aged 18 to 21 to be paid adult wages.

Bernie Smith, spokesperson for the SDA, told 6PR Breakfast hosts Millsy and Karl that in certain industries, workers aged 18 to 21 are receiving 30% less than the full adult rate of pay, irrespective of their experience.
“We are looking for adults to be paid adult wages, simple as that,” he said.
