Encouraging trial results suggest this method could potentially offer a one-off treatment, aiming to control the disease and eliminate the need for daily insulin injections.

Professor Elif Ekinci, Head of Diabetes Research at Austin Health, informed 6PR Breakfast hosts Millsy and Karl that trial participants experienced improvements within weeks.

“It’s been generally well tolerated for the patients we have had in our trial; they go home on the same day they have the treatment and a few days later or weeks later their glucose levels improve,” she said.
