School parents now left $250,000 out of pocket after Europe trip cancelled

Simon Beaumont

When a school trip of a lifetime was cut short due to the pandemic, parents from a northern suburbs school lost thousands of dollars.

Since February, when 6PR Mornings first reported the news, Best4Travel has been placed into voluntary administration, leaving Aranmore Catholic College and its parents short $250,000.

Legal action has been launched against the businesses, but parents have been told overnight that they may have to apply to become creditors.

One of the school’s mothers, Kylie, has been left distraught and stuck with nowhere to go.

“Currently, we’re not deemed as creditors, which has made our situation even worse,” she said.

“Because we’re still asking the questions where is the $250,000 and where is the proof of where it was spent, and who it went to,

“Best4Travel will not produce any proof of the payment or the transactions.”
